Favourite Episode?

RE: Favourite Episode?
I've never seen anything from Harry that would suggest that he would hang one of his people out to dry if things went wrong, as long as what they did were done on his orders. So I think he would have supported and protected Adam as much as it was in his power to do so. But you're right that the only one that comes out of it looking decent is Danny. And for that he gets killed in the next episode! Tongue

RE: Favourite Episode?
Episode 1 was simply brilliant - and it was rewritten I gather after MM changed his mind and wanted to come back for another couple of episodes. Great lines in this one; "oh there's a door, isn't there?"

Episodes 9 and 10 are fantastic, especially the latter. What a way for a character like Danny to go: "if I wasn't tied to this chair I'd be right up in your face..."

In short 3.1 and 3.10 are among the best in the Spooks canon, simple as that.

RE: Favourite Episode?
I like Season 3 very much, although it didn't do well ratings wise. Ruth slowly develops as a character, and Tom's write-out was very moving for me - in some ways, the most affecting of the show so far. I sympathised with the idea of "this [spy] thing leaving [him]". It also set the precedent of female stars being written out for pregnancy!

Danny leaves the show in a very mature, powerful way - he dies with dignity in a way that other leads
Spoiler: show
like Colin and Zaf
don't get. And it's a nice contrast with the Danny of season 1, he's grown up so much. I love the way Ruth and Danny form a special bond after Zoe leaves.

I love the Andy Serkis episode because it starts as such farce - the rip off Lindbergh storyline crossed with Kurt Cobain and a bit of Posh 'n' Becks thrown in for good measure. And then it disintegrates into thorough tragedy. And it gives real insight into Adam and Fiona's relationship which is still new to the audience.

And how great is it that the club is called Hole? A not so subtle nod in Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain's direction....

RE: Favourite Episode?
There weren't a lot of great "episodes" in this series, but there were a LOT of great moments. But episode one definitely classifies as a great episode, IMO. That sequence where Adam convinces Carmen Joyce to kill herself is one of the most brilliantly written scenes I've ever come across.

RE: Favourite Episode?
I agree - for me I think the series opener and finale were the best. I can't remember any other good ones atm, but I'm sure that there must have been other good episodes... Oh, I liked the one with Forrestal, can't remember what episode it is.

DANNY - Placements all over the shop. Back up vehicles, chopper support if we need it. Bomb disposal with a signal jammer for Mary’s trademark remote control blasts. And Tom here’s doing the catering. Mate. You are so covered.

RE: Favourite Episode?
I liked the first episode and its a pity Matthew Mcfayden left, as it would have been interested to see how the dynamics of Section D would have altered if Tom and Adam would have been working together for a more sustained period.

RE: Favourite Episode?
Well, I just finish season 3, and I have to say my favorites episodes were the season finale, and the last episode of Zoey. I think that Zoey deserved a great ending just like Danny.
And both episodes have great moments, like Danny trying to convince Zoey to take the deal. And in 3.10 the last words of Danny, that was so sad! I even jump when I hear the gun shot!

Actually just 5 minutes ago I finish the last episode and I’m still in shock.UndecidedUndecided

Danny and Zoey were great characters! And I’ll miss them so much.

RE: Favourite Episode?
Ok I really was disappointed with this series over all , though there were some great moments as has been said.
I liked episode 1 &2 and think that this was down to MM's contribution, after he left it just wasn't the same.
I did enjoy episode 9 & 10, 10 being more like the old spooks of the first two series. I was however surprised that they didn't follow tradition and end with a cliff hanger . It would have made compelling viewing if they had suggested a "different" outcome for Fiona . Suicida the true one being shown at the beginning of series 4 (similar to 1/2).

There are some great quotes in the series, Harry being the master as usual. Though Malcolm came up with some gems, and so too did Ruth who I have warmed to throughout this series.
I hope series 4 is an improvement

RE: Favourite Episode?
Just rewatched the first episode of season 3, the scene where Adam, Tom and Harry stepped out of the van to argue who is to meet Carman Joyce is brilliantly set up to introduce Adam. Liked it even more the second viewing.
Believe it's from this season Harry started emerging as the true protagonist, I love his angle with Ruth. God these actors are excellent, and the editing is commendable. Heard recentluy the US (where I am) is remaking the series, there is no chance the US version can be half as good.
