Well he certainly knew Adam's reputation at least. But yes, I hadn't thought about that - if he's Wes' godfather, then he (almost certainly, because people can be christened later in life) knew him before he joined

Interesting point -- it never occurred to me that Harry and Adam knew each other that well prior to Adam moving to MI5.

No, I don't think Harry is Wes' godfather. He only knew Adam by reputation before he came to MI5. According to Harry's Diary Harry was godfather to the daughter of two colleagues, Archie and Amanda, but they and their daughter died in a car accident. There is no mention of Harry being Wes' godfather in the Diary.
