RE: Rupert Penry-Jones
Well I went to the Whitechapel 2 Premiere last night. Pitty the main cast (Rupert, Steve Pemberton, Phil Davis) didn't! Unless they were in some sort of disguise and I missed them. This wasn't what was publicised in the press! Naughty Naughty!

I did spot though George Rossi and Christopher Fulford. Also, I ended up on the stairwell standing next to the nasty thug from Spooks 5.2
Series 5.2 Spoiler: show
the one who beat Zaf up in the Air Traffic Control Centre and imprisoned Harry. He plays a bad guy thug (again) in Whitechapel 2 funnily enough. I really did want to give him a slap for what he did to Zaf!

Anyway, we were all suspects in some murder and there were various actors dressed up doing role play. We got free wine and popcorn and still had a good time, with a talk given by the writer John Pearson who has written many books on the Krays.

As for Whitechapel 2 itself. We got to see an extended version of the first episode (I think. This was all a little confusing.) I won't spoil it for people, but I thought it had lost some of its magic because the uniqueness which helped carry the first series, was obviously gone. By the time the end of the screening came, I thought it was a jumbled mess to be frank and some of the scenes and writing was so OTT, it just wasn't believeable at all. For me crime drama's have to have an air of plausibility about them, and I felt this had gone too much into fantasy land.

It will probably still do well on Monday, mainly because of all the publicity. I will be amazed though, if it gets good reviews after the showing. Basically, it was fit for ITV.

This is just my opinion anyway. We had a good time though and finished off with lots of wine and pizza back in the City. Smile

Well that's not cool that the stars didn't go when wasn't that part of the deal?!
Wine & popcorn would certainly help Wink

Oh I would have wanted to slap the bad guy too!
Oh well think of it as a night out and hope the pizza afterwards was good!

Sounds like you had a good time, TL despite none of the star names being there!

Thanks for posting Aria. That sounds like a great production, and I bet Eddie Izzard will be a great pirate. I wonder what part RPJ is to play.

He seemed to have fallen off the radar. He doesn't seem to have the same star power as RA.....Wink
