Another very positive review from Phil Hogan (hopefully no relation) in The Observer. Fingers crossed for the rest of season 9 and beyond...

The thing is, they're unlikely to get higher ratings than what they got for the opener.

Let's hope the ratings stay above the 5.2 million mark for the rest of the season. I think that would be enough to get them season 10, if they want it.

The problem is that 'they' is very hard to determine.

It will be interesting to see what tonight throws up.

ITV have been advertising DCI Banks very heavily the past week.

While TV Times may have a vested interest in promoting the Banks programme Radio Times this week also gives it their Pick Of The Day ahead of Spooks. Huh

Indeed Nitrus.

I think it was a good result considering though. Some of the negative write-ups for 9.2 probably didn't help and sent some people to DCI-Banks. ITV always do this against Spooks.

5.2 was a pretty good result considering the press coverage DCI Banks got. It could have been a lot worse. I expected a slight drop anyway.

I see another series of Whitechapel with Rupert Penry-Jones is starting the week after next. I wouldn't be surprised if ITV put in the slot against Spooks.

TV Times which only gave last night's Spooks epi a 3-star rating has given 9-3 4 stars.

Thanks for posting the figures, Tea Lady. I agree with nothingisasitseems, 5.2 million is not bad, only 300,000 behind DCI Banks and when you consider that everytime you tune into ITV you are almost guaranteed to see an advert for this or Downton Abbey and I have yet to see a Spooks trailer, it is very good. Lots of negative reviews about Banks so next weeks figures may go up hopefully.

They've been showing the trailers about twice a week. Silly beeb. Why ITV and BBC can't play nice I don't know, but it doesn't matter. 5 million is still good, and, tbh, I'm certain that Spooks is much better than the ITV dramas... Admittedly I haven't seen anything on ITV for a while, so can't really comment, but still!

DANNY - Placements all over the shop. Back up vehicles, chopper support if we need it. Bomb disposal with a signal jammer for Mary’s trademark remote control blasts. And Tom here’s doing the catering. Mate. You are so covered.
