RE: How did you feel about Season 9?
I would actually like it if Series 10 delve deeper into Harry's career with MI5, and it would be cool if they went into more details about his relationships with his old teams, and/or the agents that he lost along the way. Maybe see how Harry recruited Lucas, how Tom came into the group, how Lucas was captured in Moscow, how Connie was involved, then how Tom was decommissioned, how Zoe ran off, Tessa disappeared, the whole betrayal thing with Ros. I think they can take the chance to go deeper into those various moments of failure and betrayal in Harry's careers and his relationships with those agents that he loved and trusted.
And who knows, it may even leave a chance for old stars to return for guest appearances or something! It would be interesting to delve into the past. RIP Carter Hall ~ Hawkman |

At the very end, during their phone conversation, the Home Sec tells Harry that the coming investigation won't be restricted to Harrys giving up of Albany to Lucas, but will look into his whole career. Maybe S10, or at least the early part of it, will be something like a prequel, showing us events way before series 1. |

RE: How did you feel about Season 9?
Not sure if this is applicable here, but I enjoyed S9, but thought the whole Lucas thing drew too much focus away from the whole team and could've been developed better (like adam in S5 i believe), and possibly been executed better also.
I like the idea of delving into Harry's past and examining old moments with old teams etc etc But heres my interesting notion. Wasn't the whole Code 9 fiasco set in 2013? This could lead to another 2 series after 10, to join the two series arch's together, with the regular team (Harry, Ruth/whoever is alive) to all die in the nuclear blast just before Code 9? Most people will probably not like this due to how bad Code 9 was, but I think it would be a nice ending for Spooks as a whole in some ways. |

Somehow I don't think they will try to tie in Spooks with Code 9, they've been trying to ignore its existence for a while. So while it may be a nice touch to tie in the two shows, I don't think that's gonna happen. Code 9 went out with such a disaster that I'm not sure Spooks want to be attached to. But I am ready to stand corrected! Probably the writers are working already on the new scripts, in the next few months (signings, PR etc) will should get some rumours... RE: How did you feel about Season 9?
I didn't really enjoy last night's episode. As some other's have posted the storyline was a bit weak and in some places so obvious - the bloke running out of the cafe wearing a hoody - please! - it was so obviously a set up. I also agree that the character of Maya was weak with no hint of why Lucas would fall for her except that maybe she was a cipher - someone on whom he could project all his longings and fantasies.
Can they really get rid of Harry? he is the keystone of the entire series and would Ruth go as well - ride off into the night, hand-in-hand?! |

RE: How did you feel about Season 9?
So Lucas makes the death count of MI5 agents now at 11, with 6 old/former agents still alive and current team (Harry, Ruth, Beth, Dimitri, and Tariq) still hopping along.

RE: How did you feel about Season 9?
I loved this series and I know I will watch it again and again. The new characters are great additions, Beth has acid wit, her attachment to Harry is endearing and thank you Kudos for employing an actress with a pair of sturdy calves. Her running makes me laugh! Dimitri has brought the light moments back to the grid, we haven't had that much humour for ages. He's cute and I like him in the same way as I liked Adam (he doesn't have many fans on hear which has always surprised me).
Lucas. This is the only series that I have enjoyed him as a character or RA as an actor. The story was mad but fab IMO and the best part was that we the viewers were in on the secret rather than the team. Ruth knew but her situation with Harry stopped her from simply running to tell. Much better than S8 when every week the threat of the week was another part of the Nightingale jigsaw. God that was boring! Something that has always irked me a little about Spooks is that once something has happened or they have suffered a loss, it's never discussed apart from in maybe the next episode of too. This season we had Harry and Ruth finally addressing the elephant in the room, i.e. George's death and Nico and how Ruth actually feels about that. Also, not only did we get to see a recently departed character, Malcolm, we actually met his Mum! We haven't heard Harry mention his daughter since she featured in an episode yonks ago and in E8 he gave her a call. So retrospective, loved that. As much as I wanted Ruth to accept Harry's proposal, I do understand why dramatically this would have been a disaster and turn the show into a slushy soap opera. All the angst there tied in with the price we all pay for what we do theme. PF showed what an awesome actor he is and he got so much more to do here. He is great in all types of scene, ensemble pieces, action sequences and particularly the 2-handers. There was a more cinematic feel to S9. Just got the impression there was a bit more money spent on making it look right. Loved the eps directed by MCJ, they were so good. On a slightly more trival note, we also got some other stuff from our wish list. More sassy clothing for Ruth Yay! She looks so pretty this season. So, yeah, loved it lot's. Bring on S10 and I think that Kudos should make it the last one. Oh and Kudos, thank you for sacking that really crappy cameraman with the shakey hands! |

RE: How did you feel about Season 9?
My initail thoughts were that series 9 as a whole was the best yet, but now it's over I find myself picking holes in it. I adored the whole Ruth/Harry relationship from S4&5 but found the storyline getting more and more tedious as it progressed through S9 and had to fast forward those bits, they made me cringe. Harry's besottedness and Ruth's firm refusal to admit her feelings again drove me insane. But, I loved how Ruth was put to the test, working more in the field this series. She's so strong but still has the humanity we all love her for.
As for the Lucas storyline... I wasn't too keen. Maya's was just plain annoying and got in the way a lot. The whole storyline was a bit predictable. As soon as Vaughn turned up calling him John you knew it wasn't going to end well, his character deserved so much more and a better ending. By the end of episode 8, I really disliked him and wasn't sorry when he jumped. I'd always hoped that he'd go out in style like Adam, whose death left me a blubbering wreck, but no tears were shed I liked the addition of Beth, I was wary at first but her character's really grown on me. As for Dimitri I'm still not sure, I feel like I don't really know him yet. Maybe series 10 will enlighten me. But, even with all the negatives I'll still buy the boxset and watch it over and over again. Even though there are some plot holes and some weak storylines it still makes for brilliant watching, the actors are fantastic, especially PF, NW and RA. I seriously can't wait for series 10. Really worried about Harry though |
