RE: Episode 3 Discussion
It's ok, you had to kill her!
But Yeah and they do seem to not shed more light on her after the death! REMOVED FOR VIOLATING SIG/AV GUIDELINES. |

RE: Episode 3 Discussion
Well, I'm not sure anyone on here was responsible for writing her out. But I think, as Adam Carter says, it was a pretty lack lustre episode to leave in.

RE: Episode 3 Discussion
Yes it was a pretty poor effort.
And personally I was kind of annoyed that the focus of the episode was on Ros once again, yet Jo was the one who died. MR was never able to get any decent screen time since Series 5 as its been so Ros dominant female character wise. I'm kind of tired of the whole Ice Queen routine with Ros (Yes she kills people and doesn't blink an eye - we get it alright!) and Jo was an interesting, and much more sympathetic character who didn't get many storylines. |

RE: Episode 3 Discussion
Well, there are others who had it worse. Zaf for certain didn't get storylines worthy of what the character could have been.
I liked that the shooting took place right at the end and out of the blue, as it were, given that she wasn't in the original group downstairs. I think Jo's real farewell came in episode 2, it was a very fitting write out. It was just more disappointing that the episode didn't live up to its promise, as there really was potential for it to be a lot better. Many thanks to Tyger for a terrific signature |

RE: Episode 3 Discussion
Yeah I liked the shooting being at the end - it would be too predictable if the focus on the episode was on Jo and this was more of a shock ending (well if there hadn't been that MR interview lol)

RE: Episode 3 Discussion
I agree with JHyde that Jo's farewell episode was episode 2, that was great for her. It would have been a greater shock, and therefore better ending, if we hadn't had known beforehand. Perhaps a good reason to stay away from spoilers......but I can't !

RE: Episode 3 Discussion
Yes, it makes sense that episode 2 was his farewell episode, very moving.
I tried to keep away from spoilers last year, but I saw the interview with Miranda... I didn't know she would say something like that!! "Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we oft might win, by fearing to attempt" Pactum serva |

RE: Episode 3 Discussion
Okay I'm behind again, with every series coming here a year later...
Dunno if anybody mentioned it (I skim read the 14 pages), but this final scene does not make much sense. Jo grabs the terrorist's gun hand (actually, wrist), which would neither prevent him from pressing the remote det, nor firing his pistol. Next, if you really have no choice but go for someone's gun, a pro would stick her fingers behind the trigger or between hammer and frame (on a single action pistol) to prevent the gun from firing. Basic hand to hand technique with an armed opponent. In other words, and in terms of plausibility, what Jo did amounted to nothing. The guy could virtually still depress the det AND shoot his pistol. I know it's only a TV show, but there are still ways to make it a little bit believable. A little effort please ! Anyway, MR is gone, as well as the last reason I had left to watch the show. |

RE: Episode 3 Discussion
I'm pretty sure we had a marathon discussion about where to shoot and why Jo didn't do xyz.
I think what you've just said is a big part of the reason why a lot of us felt cheated. Because it was a little implausible, at best. At worst it was one of those things we'll still be bitching about in many months time when we speak about the show to one another. Many thanks to Tyger for a terrific signature |

RE: Episode 3 Discussion
Exactly.
Although in my view it had become implausible by series 5, if not before. This scene in the context of such an interesting character as Jo represents the epitome of the show's deliberate drifting to "24H-type" bull. |
