RE: Peter Firth
Really? I have to find that.....
His words were nicely chosen. And the poor bugger could hardly keep from laughing at one point during that embarassing introduction.

RE: Peter Firth
Just watched it -- what a hoot! He did look embarassed, poor man.

I mean, I was embarassed and I was just watching it at work on my break.

RE: Peter Firth
And the guy doing the intro was tripping over his words, which didn't help at all.

RE: Peter Firth
I saw this. It's strange to me that PF always makes comments about his intellectual limitations. He's said in more than one interview that he's "a bearer of quite small brain". Yet he's very erudite in interviews, so he doesn't come across as less intelligent to me.

RE: Peter Firth
Maybe that's because he thinks that he didn't do well academically, therefore he is less intelligent. Obviously intelligence isn't always shown by academic achievement, but maybe that's what he means. But he obviously has enough charisma/talent that he's successful, regardless of how intellectually capable he thinks he is.

RE: Peter Firth
Part of his general humility, I think, which of course makes him all the more appealing! Also, some people equate "intelligence" with "education." In my experience, the two have nothing whatever to do with one another.

RE: Peter Firth
That's true. There is a difference between 'clever' and 'intelligent'. And I agree about the humility, it does add to his appeal for me.

RE: Peter Firth
Especially given that as a successful and well-regarded actor for 40+ years, he could be an absolute horror. But he seems to have bypassed all that egomania that afflicts some of his colleagues and is just a decent, humble, genuine human being.
