RE: Peter Firth
Here's a little extract from a quote from screenwriter Andrew Davies about South Riding
"It's also full of rich comedy, with some wonderful minor characters, splendidly cast. I feel as if we've rediscovered a forgotten masterpiece." Having not read the book, I'm just guessing that Peter's role will be one of these minor characters. Although as they've featured a picture of him on the back of the book (thanks for posting the pic Tea Lady), here's hoping he's one of the more major minor characters!! |

RE: Peter Firth
Peter's role is only in a handful of scenes of the book so he's definately only one of the minor characters.
But with what his character does (or not does...) he has quite some effect on some other persons appearing in the book so I think his scenes should at least be important for the whole story development. |

RE: Peter Firth
Unless I'm going blind, there is no sign of South Riding in the latest BBC programme information released today. That takes us up to 4th Feb. At this rate the DVD will be released before it is shown.

Yes, isn't the dvd release date 11th Feb? Perhaps they'll delay that too.
Picard - behave! Do not distract me with talk of the size of Peter's parts. |

Me thinks that isn't going to happen, unless we get a massive Peter fest, with all three parts shown over three nights.... |

Yes, he looked like he was going out fishing in a big storm! The cute smile and blonde hair made up for it though. Series episode 2.1 That's Life Spoiler: show |

RE: Peter Firth
I watched White Angel last night and am once again awestruck at PF's talent. With each new character I see him play I become more aware of his skill. As well as his voice, demeanor and expression, it is the way he moves his body that so completely denotes character. He has moved differently in every part that I've seen him play. That must be a very difficult thing to do. How do you begin to work out how to walk like a sociopath? And then achieve it so naturally? I used to think that PF was wonderfully masculine and sexy. Now I realise it is Harry Pearce that is masculine and sexy, because that is the way PF has very deliberately portrayed him. So many actors have to play themselves, at least physically. Once again I bemoan the fact that he is not more lauded for talent. I know he is acknowledged in the business as a fine actor, but it seems to be a bit of a state secret of its own!
By the way, I still think Peter is super-sexy. His voice and talent alone would achieve that effect, but I love his gorgeous cuddliness too! |

Damn! Forgot it was on. "Where's Harry?" "Moving in mysterious ways." |
