RE: Lucas and Elizaveta
I thought she knew from the off that he was a Spy? Because she was part of the KGB or FSB or something? Or did she only join while he was captured after she found out?

RE: Lucas and Elizaveta
it's in their last scene ("Not sure I like what you've done with the house..." )
L: You weren't FSB when we were married. When did Kachimov turn you? E: He approached me a little over a year ago. He told me you'd been arrested, but you were alive. And that you could come home, if I helped him. L: Why did you say yes? Why put yourself at risk? E: He showed me photographs of you in that place. Your skin. He said it would be easier on you if... you believed I had always worked for him. (not sure he believes her tho.. "..Whatever your reasons for working with Kachimov, you need to think about protecting your family...") ...heartbreaking too “If you don't let me do this, they will take everything away from you. This life. This happiness. It will all be gone. I know what that's like. And there are no words to describe how terrible it is.” quite like his disappearing act in that scene |

I understood that sentence as that he was trying not to acknowledge that her explanation meant she cared for him as to endanger herself to help him, acknowledging that wouldn't help him to let go. I think you are right there. The situation they are in is awkward and I don't think either wants to really show their true feelings in full light. RE: Lucas and Elizaveta
I've always been wondering how easy (or not) it might have been for Lucas to lie to her and keep his profession a secret. Surely he must have had her vetted before marrying her but why did he not choose to tell her? (And I wonder what he told her his job was ) If he loved her (as I think he did), would that not have involved trusting her too?
hmm.... |

RE: Lucas and Elizaveta
I've changed my mind - again. About the timeline of events between Lucas and Elizaveta. It's been suggested that Elizaveta found out Lucas was a spy when he was arrested. I'm inclined to think it was before this. I think Lucas told Elizaveta he was a spy while they were married, they got divorced and then Lucas was captured. The following quote suggests that Elizaveta only found out he was captured when the FSB told her.
L: You weren't FSB when we were married. When did Kachimov turn you? E: He approached me a little over a year ago. He told me you'd been arrested, but you were alive. And that you could come home, if I helped him. Having said that - I don't think the script provides clear answers about the Lucas and Elisaveta story. Fantragic fun - SpooksFanBlog.com |

RE: Lucas and Elizaveta
hah! what IF she knew, and she was the one who ratted him out...
nah, then he wouldn't ask her when she was turned.. unless it's a test and he already knows and just wants to see how she'd react.. nah... dunno, can't concentrate listening to Lovelace.. There is definitely something ...dodgy, can't-quite-put-finger-toable about their relationship (unless it's plot holes and inconsistencies left be negligent writers.. wouldn't be a first ) |

RE: Lucas and Elizaveta
It is indeed a muddled plot line.
Perhaps he told her a rough outline, that he worked for the government but not exactly that he was a spook, then when he was caught she realised the truth (I don't think she'd be stupid enough not to put two and two together), divorced him as she assumed the worst (he was dead or never coming home) and when she was told he was still alive she had already moved on with her life but felt guilty so worked for the FSB. Sorry if that doesn't make sense! LUCAS:They told me I could come home if I spied for them HARRY:What did you say? LUCAS:I said yes |

RE: Lucas and Elizaveta
I guess unless TPTB bring her back or elaborate we'll spend the rest of our lives guessing... I actually quite like the idea that she betrayed him.. think of the potential fallout when he finds out (I'm wearing my evil hat tonight)
