RE: New Doctor Who Discussion
I haven't seen Doctor Who before, but I'm interested b/c one of my friends said its good. I noticed that BBC America has the current season's episodes on its web site...so I was just wondering- do you think I would get lost if I started watching from this season's episodes? Or would it be easy to understand? Thanks!

Besides, BBCA replays the 9th, 10th and 11th doctors a lot. You'll catch up. Now cracks a noble heart. Good-night, sweet [Spooks]; And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest. ~Wm. RE: New Doctor Who Discussion
You should be fine. Personally I would watch the first series of the 11th Doctor first, then the current one, purely because then you know the back story behind the companions, but you should be fine without watching it.
I'm the first one to admit that I have spent the last 5 weeks moaning about Doctor Who. I have had major issues with the plots so far, and if I'm honest the less time I have to watch Amy Pond, the better in my opinion (she gets on my nerves). But, I have to say that there is one thing that Steven Moffat has managed to pull off. River Song. I may have hated her at first, and every episode since her first, thinking that she is a stupid plot device which would turn out to be predictable, but Moffat's mind works in mysterious ways, and on this occasion I love him... well, maybe that's too strong. But I certainly don't hate him quite as much as I did before. There are still a load of things to be sorted out, but considering how bad I thought this episode would be, I'm impressed at the ending. (Sorry for the gushingness of that ramble... If that makes any sense.) DANNY - Placements all over the shop. Back up vehicles, chopper support if we need it. Bomb disposal with a signal jammer for Mary’s trademark remote control blasts. And Tom here’s doing the catering. Mate. You are so covered. |

RE: New Doctor Who Discussion
Interesting you should say that, because I'm not keen on Amy Pond either (seems the show is more about her than the Doctor) and I think River is absolutely superb. I think Rory's terrific too.
Disappointed in this week's ending (the second part of the double episode), up until half-way through "part 2" I thought it was standout. Okay, lots of threads to close... |

RE: New Doctor Who Discussion
I have got well in to Doctor Who lately... I've always watched it but only if others were and I just happened to be there to but now I actively seek it out... I was the whole week just looking forward to the concluding part and it didn't disappoint me! I particularly loved the episode with the gangers and I love Amy Pond! I kind of thought she was annoying at first like on her wedding day when she kissed the doctor but now it's more obv that she loves Rory <3 Me getting into DW is a big thing cos I am anti sci fi in general and I have been known to sit through eps making fun of the whole thing but now I find all the stories sooo captivating!!

RE: New Doctor Who Discussion
I was having my doubts over this series of Doctor Who and the latest episode has only strengthened those doubts. It seems the writers of the show are playing it out like a soap now-a-days rather than a sci-fi show which it once was.

I agree, Nitrus. It's frustrating to see each episode "soapify."

RE: New Doctor Who Discussion
I don't know what you're all talking about, I LOVED season 6. With the exception of the Matthew Graham episodes, season 6 is right up there for me in the new series.
Amy is smart, she figures stuff out in a very logical way, quite unlike the other companions of the new series. She reminds me a lot of Sarah Jane Smith, actually, and has grown on me in a big way. Many thanks to Tyger for a terrific signature |
