Well they don't shoot the series in chronological order so who knows when & for how long Hugh Simon is back??
Maybe Malcolm is reading a poem for Ros? Although she would hate that....

I doubt if it's Harry. I think RA's interview this week gives a hefty clue who is "departing" (sadly). But wonderful to have Malcolm back. If there is a mole, and going that Lucas "isn't who we thought he was" (see RA's interview again for a further clue), remember that Malcolm worked with Lucas before his betrayal by Connie. Harry may need all the ideas/clues he can get.

Equally I think if the whole betrayal theme really is as big as the interviews and press release make it out to be, then perhaps Harry decides he needs people he can really trust around him, and that's why he perhaps asks Malcolm back (forming a trust triangle between Harry, Ruth and Malcolm, for example) - and also could Tariq be someone interesting who has another side as well?

hm, would make sense. And since it's safe to assume (after RA's latest HINT) that Ros won't be around in series 9 (except maybe for flashbacks) and that after all Lucas might be the UltimateBetrayer™ ...much as I hate that idea, for various reasons..

that just lets me look at the Lucas/Connie greeting scene from 7.1 in a whole new light.
WHAT IF he really is a Russian mole and his "stuff of legends" remark refers to 'legends in the FSB'?!? Must think some more about this angle.

I still think Lucas being a Russian agent is too obvious a storyline. Usually Spooks writers come up with something far more intricate.

I was thinking the same ever since the first.. speculations came up here. Too simple. Would disappoint me if they did.
But.. RA dropped another 'hint' in one of the recent interviews about people wondering whether Lucas was/not a traitor.. unless he was totally misleading us (though I don't think he's got it in him). He never said "Russian" spy/traitor though.. so what if Lucas is.. Greek?!?
I've been mulling over possible scenarios, some more, some less silly. Building a LuCase, like. With pics to 'prove' my theories Once completed, I'll put it in the blog.

I'm not sure I understand how Lucas could still be working with the Russians, after everything that happened with the Sugarhorse incident. You would think it would've come back up at some point then.

I really do think that if there is a massive betrayal it must be a real shock and the only ones that for me would be Ruth or Harry. But I still cannot see it, or how it can happen

We are all going to be bloody mad before this series starts...and they haven't even started the big publicity machines yet...

I'm in agreement with those who think it's much too obvious to be Lucas - that's just not Spooks!
